Company Iskratel from Kranjska region signed two new contracts for the modernization of local access networks in Iran for a total of 36 million euros. Iskratel will provide broadband access in seven provinces of Iran through GPON fibre optic technology, and will also supply hardware and software for the largest Iranian operator — the Telecommunication Company of Iran (TCI).
After the last year’s opening of a representative office in Tehran (in cooperation with three Slovenian companies in Iran), the Kranjska company Iskratel has already signed two major contracts in Iran. A few days ago, the Director General Željko Puljić signed a 15 million euros worth contract for upgrading access networks with the largest Iranian operator Telecommunication Company of Iran (TCI). Soon the partners will sign another contract for 21 million euros. Both projects will be implemented this year.
Iskratel, which has recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, notes that at the TCI tender they were selected as the only contractor from the EU — the ICT operator. Three other well-known companies Huawei, FiberHome and Zyxel will also participate in the project of upgrading access networks. “We managed to get both contracts because we have efficient solutions successfully implemented in several countries. Our second advantage is that we are implementing the project on our own. We ourselves develop and produce all the accessories. We also have our own brand,” Željko Puljić emphasises.
