The Sumitomo Rubber Industries from Japan made a statement about launching a new manufacturing facility to produce rubber parts for medical purposes in central Slovenia. The investment project is worth 34 million euros. The new plant will operate as a subsidiary of Switzerland-based Lonstroff acquired by Sumitomo Rubber in January 2015. It is planned that the production at the new manufacturing facility in Slovenia will be launched in April 2019. The investment project would offer 200 new vacancies. After launching the new plant, Sumitomo Rubber plans to three times increase its manufacturing capacity with regard to primary packaging and rubber parts used for medical applications in Europe as compared to 2016. The company leadership considers the Slovenian investment project to be another serious step in promoting its precision rubber parts business around the world. As the Finance business newspaper reports, the location of the new Japan’s plant in Slovenia will be announced by the end of August.
