TRIESTE — The Italy’s Trieste Port and Koper Port in Slovenia should take advantage of the opportunities for future cooperation and apply common efforts for the sake of mutual economic development. This is the core message, on which the heads of the two ports agreed in Trieste on Monday, 19 June 2017. Both ports have certain advantages that are beyond competition. For example, the port of Koper is second to none with regard to the price policy. However, the port of Trieste is good at its inter-modality segment and duty-free points. Therefore, both ports should learn how to benefit from strong points of each other. This will contribute to the promotion of ports, develop their economic ties and provide new opportunities for staff training. Currently, the ports of Slovenia and Italy plan new several-million-euro investment projects for the next couple of years especially within the concept of the China’s new Silk Road to Europe.
