Ljubljana — The Slovenian Press Agency (STA) informs that Slovenia and Norway are the leaders among the countries that are considered best for children to live in. The new Stolen Childhood report came out on 1 June 2017 timed to coincide with the International Children’s Day. Slovenia and Norway top the list of 172 countries being ahead of Sweden, Netherlands and Finland. According to the End of Childhood index, Slovenia leads as the best country for children in a number of indicators, such as access to education, mortality and labour among children, child weddings, children’s nutrition, pregnancy among teenagers, and regional conflicts. The charity organisation encourages countries to stand against deep-rooted traditions and discriminatory policies, and instead to invest into the new social programmes intended to improve the quality of life for children all over the world.
