Not so long ago, many people would hardly identify Slovenia on the world’s map. However, this small part of former Yugoslavia has recently drew the attention of the world. The majority of countries have started giving more attention to Slovenia courtesy of Melania Trump, but food lovers have been keeping an eye on this tiny country for a while. In January 2017, Chef Ana Ros from the Hisa Franko restaurant located in Kobarid received the World’s Best Female Chef title, shining the spotlight on the absolutely unique cuisine of her region. Since then, Slovenia has become one of the most amazing food destinations in Europe. “If a nation needs its own language and culture, it for sure needs its own cuisine, one that expresses its character and way of living,” says another chef Matej Tomazic who runs the Majerija Inn with one of the most popular restaurants in Slovenia. He offers his clients a variety of classic dishes with contemporary touches.
