It is safe to say that Dr. Janez Bogataj is one of the most extraordinary Slovenian ethnologists. He is one of the world’s most prominent experts on the ethnology of Slovenia. He mainly focuses on the culinary history and modern trends of his native country. Dr. Janez Bogataj was born in Ljubljana in 1947. In 1972, he started his career as a curator of ethnology at the Dolenjska Museum in Novo Mesto. In 1977, he entered the academic staff at the Department of Ethnology at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. Ten years later, he became an assistant professor and made a full professor in 1998. Since 2011, Dr. Janez Bogataj has been bearing the title of retired honorary professor.
