Slovenia inspires a lot of countries within Europe and worldwide with its model of sustainable development in tourism. During the global green events in Rimini, Italy and Cascais, Portugal, the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism was presented including the list of the World’s TOP 100 Sustainable Destinations. Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, and the Podčetrtek thermal resort entered the list along with the Slovenia Green Destinations group. Thanks to the Global Green Destinations Day and the Green Fest, Slovenia strengthened its reputation as one of the leading countries in sustainable tourism. Slovenia has long been advertised as a green, active and healthy country. It is one of the Europe’s most densely forested and water-rich areas. The Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism involves 23 green destinations, 14 green services providers, 3 green parks, and a number of green travel agencies ready to organize a green trip around Slovenia any time. The Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism is characterized by a comprehensive and developmental approach. It has its own national programme. It is internationally comparable and based on global criteria.
