Ljubljana — In 2016, Slovenia witnessed one more considerable growth in the number of foreign and domestic tourists travelling around the country. According to the data provided by the Statistics Office of Slovenia on Thursday, 18 May 2017, the record figure totalled to 4,318,000 people, which makes a 9.9% rise as compared to 2015. The amount of overnight stays made by foreign tourists increased by 11% reaching the figure of 7.34 million. The most popular places selected by foreign tourists for overnight staying were the municipalities with spa resorts (3.166 million, a 4% growth over 2015), the mountain municipalities (2.867 million, a 12% growth), the coastal municipalities (a 5% growth), and the Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana (a significant 13% rise).
