Celtra Inc—an Example of Effective Public Investment in Slovenia

For 7 years, the Celtra Inc. Company has increased its income by 228%. The company is developing the AdCreator software for mobile phones, through which users have already posted more than 250,000 ads that are displayed in 30 countries. Today Celtra Inc. has 400 international clients and over 160 payroll employees. The company posts ads of more than 3,500 trademarks on its platform, and the annual income of Celtra Inc. is estimated at 31.4 million euros.

In 2010, the Government invested 900,000 euros in Celtra Inc. through the Prvi sklad venture capital fund. This summer, Prvi sklad managed by RSG KAPITAL, wherein the Republic of Slovenia owns 49% of shares, has successfully sold its share (2/3) of the Celtra Inc. property. The Slovenian Enterprise Fund (SPS) reports that the proceeds from the purchase, according to shares, were returned to the owners of venture capital. Thus, the Government has received the amount, which is 8 times higher than that invested in 2010.

In 2010, the Slovenian Enterprise Fund (SPS) and the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology (MGRT) began to stimulate the financing of Slovenian high-tech companies and venture capital enterprises. In total, in 2010–2015, the public-private funds in the form of venture capital were invested in 29 companies.
