The craftsmen from all over the world, including Slovenia, demonstrated their skills at the world’s largest Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival in Harbin. A Slovenian master of ice sculptures Miro Rismondo, the author of the Ice Edge project (Ledena dežela), won the prestigious award for ingenuity.
He presented Slovenia with his project “Idrija Lace” (Idrijske čipke) carved out of ice cubes. With his sculpture “Lace Blow in the Wind”, the author emphasized the fragility and amazing strength of ice crystal that resembles the Idrija lace.
Slovenia Will Be Represented at the Russian Cup of Snow and Ice Sculpture in Perm
The female part of the team that creates the Icy Edge project will go to Russia. On Friday, 13 January, Helena Rismondo will fly to the V Open Competition Russian Cup of Snow and Ice Sculpture “Zimniy Vernissage”, which will take place at the city esplanade in Perm from 15 to 21 January 2017 and will bring together 40 best masters of snow and ice sculptures. The event is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
Each year only 10 snow and 10 ice projects from around the world may participate in the Competition. Helena Rismondo will take part in the “Snow Sculpture” category of the Competition. Her work is called “3 to Infinity”.
