Slovenian scientist are currently working on the way to teach patients, who once suffered a stroke, how to start walking normally again and, which is even more significant, how to regain the lost sense of balance. For the majority of such patients, regaining balance has become an essential part of the rehabilitation process. The scientists from the University Rehabilitation Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia are engaged in testing a new unique robot that in future will return the ability to walk and the sense of balance to people. The device is attached to pelvis and is equipped with sensors and motors that can accompany various movements of patients. The unique Slovenian invention is part of the European research project that is intended to understand and resolve balance related problems by means of robotics.
