6.2 Million Tourists Visit Slovenia in 2019

In total, the number of 6.2 million tourists travelled to Slovenia in 2019. This figure is 5% higher than in 2018. In 2019, tourists made 0.6% more overnight stays in the country having reached the figure of about 15.8 million. Such optimistic information has been provided by the Statistics Office this week.

The ratio of Slovenian tourists who travelled around the country in 2019 grew by 1.3% and reached the indicator of 1.5 million persons. At the same time, the percentage of travellers from abroad increased by 6.3% making 4.7 million visitors.

The majority of tourists come to Slovenia from Italy, Germany, and Austria. It should be noted that Austrians are the most often visitors in the country making up to 10.7% of the total foreign tourists. They are followed by Italians with the ratio of about 8.5%.

The number of foreigners who came to Slovenia in December 2019 did not change as compared to the previous year.

During the Christmas holidays, Slovenia hosted mainly the representatives of Italy (26% of the international visitors), Austria (11%), Croatia (10%), Germany (6%) and Serbia (5%). During the festive season, the most popular destinations among travellers were SPAs, the Slovenian Alps, Ljubljana, and the seaside.
