To explain this, let us briefly talk about the country in general
The Republic of Slovenia is located in the south of Central Europe in the pre-Alpine part of the Balkan Peninsula. It gained independence in 1991 being the first to secede from the SFRY (Yugoslavia). In 2004, Slovenia joined the European Union. Since 2007, it is a member of the Schengen Agreement and a member of the Eurozone. The country’s currency is Euro. Official language is Slovenian.
Slovenia is a small and very beautiful country. It is home to 2.1 million people and the entire territory of the country occupies 20,236 km2.
Slovenia has 5 climatic zones. From the north, the country is flanked by the Julian Alps, from the south – by the Adriatic Sea. Thermal springs and resorts are widely represented in the eastern part of the country. Such natural wealth makes it possible to receive tourists throughout the country all year round. Therefore, tourism revenues account for 10% of the country’s GDP.
The capital of Slovenia is Ljubljana. Since 2017, the city has the status of the green capital of Europe. Slovenia itself is in the TOP 10 of the world’s safest countries. In 2015, Slovenia ranked 4th among all European countries in terms of healthy lifestyle indicators. The location of the country is recognized as the best in terms of ecology.
Slovenia has historically been the most developed region within Yugoslavia accounting for 1/3 of exports and 1/5 of the country’s GDP. Having gained independence, Slovenia already had a developed economy, which it keeps developing successfully.
Slovenia is a country with open business opportunities for foreign entrepreneurs. Here, you can establish a company with almost any kind of business activity. Slovenia is one of the few countries that does not impose strict profitability requirements on businesses. You can do business here at your own pace.
The main industries in Slovenia are electrical equipment and electronics, chemical, pharmaceutical, automotive, paper and textile industries. Slovenia is the European leader in the production of automotive parts. The main trade ties of Slovenia are definitely with the EU countries.
The largest enterprises in Slovenia are the Petrol oil company, the pharmaceutical plant KRKA, the global manufacturer of household appliances Gorenje, the machine-building plant Revoz (Renault)
Slovenes are active and athletic people. The most popular sports in Slovenia are cycling, alpine skiing and snowboarding, basketball, hockey, tennis, athletics, water sports, and hiking. Extreme sports, such as rafting, kayaking, canyoning, are also common in Slovenia.
Slovenia is one of the student capitals of Europe – several thousand foreign students come here every year. The country attracts students by the ease of admission, low tuition fees and high-quality study programmes. Slovenia is a popular choice for Erasmus+ students.
Finally, Slovenia is the only country in the world, the name of which fully contains the word “Love.”
