One of the World’s Oldest Wine Contests Was Held in Ljubljana

Ljubljana — Vino Ljubljana, the 59th International Wine Festival, was held at the Ljubljana Castle from 30 June to 2 July. About 450 samples of wine from more than 20 countries were registered for the contest. The team of wine tasters included 48 professionals from 15 countries. As a result of the wine competition, Slovenian wines were ranked among the world’s best wine trademarks. The white dry still wine, Kobal Sauvignon, 2016 by Petoviona d.o.o., Slovenia became one of the world champion wines along with still natural sweet wine, Sämling 88, 2013 by Weingut Hermann Fink, INH. Anna Fink, Austria, rose still wine, Busuioacă Domenii, 2016 by Casa De Vinuri Cotnari S.A., Romania, red dry wine, Domaine Lepovo Grand Cuvee, 2015 by Lepovo, Republic of Macedonia, and sparkling wine, Bohemia Sekt Prestige Brut, 2014 by Bohemia Sekt, s.r.o., Czech Republic. The Laški Rizling ice wine, 2009 by Meum Winery, Brumec Jurij became the Slovenian champion wine, and the Cru Vrh wine, 2013 by Aleksander Klenar from Klenar Vineyard won the Tsukamoto trophy.
