The Gorenjska region has the lowest unemployment rate in Slovenia – 5.2%. The average figure for the country at the end of November 2018 was 7.9%. As of 25 January 2019, the total number of the unemployed in Slovenia amounted to 78,534 persons.

The Employment Service opened almost 3,000 vacancies across the country, 277 of which in the Gorenjska region. The greatest demand is for workers in the manufacturing industry (production workers, mechanical engineers, metalworking engineers, welders) and the construction industry. According to the Head of the Employment Service in Kranj, Drago Perc, the labour market opened a large number of vacancies for medical personnel, social workers, cooks, waiters, truck drivers and bus drivers, logisticians and sales managers. According to him, the number of employed foreigners, first of all, technical specialists, is growing.
According to Drago Perc, an effective method to overcome unemployment involved educational courses and programmes that train specialists of one precisely defined profession.
It is worth noting that, as of November 2018, the average salary in the Gorenjska region was 1,450 EUR net, while in the whole country it was 1,087 EUR.
